A Rare Capability

Why In-House Spinning Matters

In an industry where most manufacturers rely on third-party yarn suppliers, Eastern Mills stands apart. Our investment in 4 carding machines gives us complete control over fiber quality from the very first step.

This means we can create custom fiber blends tailored to each design, maintain consistent quality across large orders, and respond quickly to specific requirements. When you work with Eastern Mills, you benefit from true vertical integration.

From raw fiber to sealed container, every step happens under one roof.

Eastern Mills Spinning Facility
Our Process

From Fiber to Yarn

Every yarn that reaches our weavers has passed through a meticulous process, ensuring the foundation of your rug is as exceptional as the finished piece.

The complete yarn spinning journey: Sheep → Scouring → Carding → Roving → Spinning → Plying & Winding → Finished Yarn

01

Fiber Selection

We source the finest natural fibers from around the world: New Zealand wool, cashmere, mohair, alpaca, linen, tencel, and real silk. Each fiber is inspected for quality, softness, and consistency before entering our facility.

02

Carding

Our 4 carding machines transform raw fibers into aligned, fluffy rovings. This process separates and straightens fibers, removes impurities, and creates the foundation for consistent, high-quality yarn.

03

Blending

Our in-house capability allows us to create custom fiber blends with precision control. Whether combining wool with silk for luster, or cashmere with alpaca for softness, we craft the perfect blend for each design.

04

Spinning

Carded fibers are twisted into yarn at our facility. We control twist, ply, and thickness to achieve the exact specifications needed for each rug construction, from fine hand-knotted silk to dense handloom wool.

05

Dyeing

Our dye masters work with both natural and high-quality synthetic dyes to achieve rich, lasting colors. Each batch is carefully matched for consistency, ensuring uniform color across your entire order.

06

Quality Control

Every yarn batch undergoes rigorous testing in our in-house laboratory for tensile strength, color fastness, and fiber composition before it reaches our weavers' skilled hands.
